a mini memoir by Amy Blackstone

Dedication
Dear Deb,
I met you once in Nashville after a show and though my brain is foggy these days, it's a moment I'll cherish forever.
Introduction
March 15, 2020. The day I felt the tickle in my throat that would change my life forever.
Chapter 1: World Spins Madly On
It's over. That life from the Before Times. I could hardly tell you what it felt like then though everyone else seems fine.
Chapter 2: Not Your Year
What’s in a year? A day? A minute? No matter. Time has no meaning anymore. What matters to me now is breath, light, relief, joy, love, grief, pain, beauty, justice, peace, compassion, laughter, thrills.
Chapter 3: Does Not Bear Repeating
Where was this GREATEST IN THE WORLD health care system that was supposed to be my birthright? Why did I leave every appointment feeling less certain about symptoms I knew I was having than I'd been when I'd arrived?
Chapter 4: The More Colors That You Eat
More fiber. More fruits. More protein. More probiotics. More veggies. More variety. More water. More supplements. More whole grains. More fish. More lean meat. More exercise. More sleep. Track everything.
